Harry Davis Lakin
1928-2018
Harry Davis Lakin, loving husband, devoted father and friend, peacefully passed away at his home on August 4, 2018 at the age of 90.
Harry was born on July 22, 1928 to Helen Davis and Stanley Lakin in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from East High. Harry served in the California Mission. He was then drafted and served as an MP in the Korean War. Harry attended the University of Utah where he graduated with a master's degree in Electrical Engineering. While attending college, he met Dora Larsen, and in 1958 they married in the Salt Lake Temple. After graduation, Harry worked at Science Technology Laboratories in Los Angeles where he designed the backup guidance System for the Lunar Excursion Module. In 1968 he returned to Salt Lake to work with his father at United Electric Supply.
Harry was proud to be known as an engineer. He loved attending the Utah Shakespeare Festival which he did for 32 years. Harry and Dora traveled the world with friends and family. They also served together faithfully in the Salt Lake Temple for many years.
Harry is survived by his wife Dora, daughters Pamela (John) Webb and Diane (Jonathan) Cannon, and five grandsons. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice, and son Christopher.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cottonwood 2nd Ward, 2080 E 5165 So, Holladay, UT; where a viewing will be held beforehand from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A viewing will also be held Friday, August 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 So 2300 E, Salt Lake City. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn. In lieu of flowers, Dora requests donations be made to Primary Children's Hospital.
